Top Ten Tuesday: Books I Meant to Read in 2020 But Didn’t Get To

Wow, there are a lot of these. We might need to do a “Top Twenty” instead. Both of us collected so many books last year, possibly because of the pandemic but also because of our mini-honeymoon, in which we picked up 30 books in just a few days (oops). Needless to say, this was a great topic for us to cover. Thanks to That Artsy Reader Girl for the prompt! 

Pete’s Five 
The Memory of Souls by Jenn Lyons
Though I didn’t review the first two entries, I’ve enjoyed this massively complicated fantasy series quite a bit. I’m finally tackling the penultimate entry this month.

The Burning God by R. F. Kuang
I don’t know how I’ve held off on reading this one as long as I have—I can’t wait to read the conclusion to Kuang’s incredible Poppy War trilogy.

Do You Dream of Terra Two? By Temi Oh
This book prominently features two things I love: single-setting stories and hopeful sci-fi. I’m already partway into it and am savoring every moment.

The Rage of Dragons by Evan Winter
I’ve heard so much about this debut novel, that sounds like a fresh take on the well-trodden genre of epic fantasy.

Summer by Ali Smith
I do this thing where I count down the months until a release by one of my favorite authors, then I buy the book and leave it on my TBR shelf. The season is all wrong, but I’m hoping to read this one soon.

Indiana’s Five
How Rory Thorne Destroyed the Multiverse by K. Eason
I’ve been so excited to read this one since I got it as a Christmas gift last-last Christmas so I’m not sure why I haven’t picked it up yet. But I’m prioritizing it this year!

French Exit by Patrick deWitt
A journalist I follow recommended this last summer and with the selling point that it was a perfect distraction from the pandemic and everything else going on. Not sure why I didn’t pick it up then. 

Writers & Lovers by Lily King
This one was a Book of the Month add-on and I’ve just been meaning to get to it for a while. The premise sounds intriguing and I haven’t read a book by this author yet.

Disappearing Earth by Julia Phillips
I bought this one during the start of the pandemic and then I decided I should read it during the winter (I guess because of the setting? Not sure why looking back). So I’ve got to get going on it.

Summer by Ali Smith
I messed the timing of this one up. I planned to read it during the season it’s named after but time just seemed to slip away from me. Hoping to get to it in the coming months!
