Sam from The Lord of the Rings
We named our cats after Sam and Frodo and have always felt like Sam was more noble in some ways than Frodo.
Luna Lovegood from Harry Potter
The strange, whimsical nature of this character put her in a bit of a box with fans sometimes but she deserved more attention.
Peik Lin from Crazy Rich Asians
We loved this character; she’s funny and incredibly supportive to Rachel, even though she seems shallow at first glance.
Dustin from Anna K by Jenny Lee
This side character (who actually does get a lot of screentime) has so much tragedy and hardship thrown his way and yet he hardly ever seems to take it out on anyone and continues instead to care about how others are doing.
Puddleglum from The Chronicles of Narnia
This solemn “marsh-wiggle” only appeared in two books in the series but was memorable not only in appearance (tall, gangly, weed-like) but also in demeanor (he’s best described as a cheerful pessimist).
