This week’s topic is titles that would make good band names. This one was a lot of fun, especially because we had to think about the titles of books, not just our opinions of them. Thanks to That Artsy Reader Girl for another great Top Ten Tuesday!
The Master and Margarita by Mikhail Bulgakov – A brooding alt-rock duo with a hint of electronica.
Heroes of the Frontier by Dave Eggers – Quirky indie folk-rock, possibly with eight or more members.
Senlin Ascends by Josiah Bancroft – Angsty emo rock.
Darkmans by Nicola Barker – Art rock with a touch of industrial electronic rock.
American Gods by Neil Gaiman – Full-throated over-the top rock’n’roll, somewhat derivative.
Lit by Mary Karr – An alt-rock band that takes itself a little too seriously.
Little Weirds by Jenny Slate – Brooklyn-based quartet that uses only toys for instruments.
Too Much Happiness by Alice Munro – An emo band.
Sex and Rage by Eve Babitz – A metal band that’s been around for a while. It’s not too hard core and often dips into alt rock territory.
A Reaper at the Gates by Sabaa Tahir – A hardcore metal band that refuses to play unless the members are all dressed in elaborate garb (which usually involves at least one actual weapon per musician).
‘American Gods’ sounds like it could totally be the name of a real band if it weren’t a novel and TV show instead. On the other hand, I have no trouble imagining ‘A Reaper at the Gates’ as pirate or Viking metal! 😛

Excellent choices and clearly well thought out! My favourites out of these are A Reaper at the Gates and American Gods. Can’t believe there isn’t already a band of the latter, the name fits so well.
