The Secret Chord by Geraldine Brooks

I really enjoyed The People of the Book and I have a bad habit of not reading more of an author when I find I like their writing, so it’s time I put this one on the list.

The Lions of Al-Rassan by Guy Gavriel Kay

I’m sure I’ve put this one on other TBRs, but I’m putting it down again. This time for real. 

Memories of Ice by Steven Erikson

Though I loathed every page of Deadhouse Gates, a friend has convinced me to give this epic series another go. 

Before She Sleeps by Bina Shah

I’m not particularly interested in dystopias, but this one stood out for its unique yet plausible premise. 

Starsight by Brandon Sanderson

Skyward was a ton of fun, and I expect no less from its sequel. I’m in need of a good lighthearted sequel.

Indiana’s Five

How Rory Thorne Destroyed the Multiverse by K. Eason 

I got this one for Christmas and have been looking forward to it ever since. It’s the first sci-fi book that I’ve really been intrigued by in a long time. 

The Wave by Susan Casey 

This nonfiction pick has been on my TBR for a while but I know I’m going to love it (I’m a fan of Casey’s other books) so I think I’m going to do my best to read it slowly. 

The Art of Starving by Sam J. Miller 

I picked this one up at a local bookstore on a whim because I was interested in how it handled mental health. 

Winterhouse by Ben Guterson 

This was another one I picked up on a whim partially because I was in need of some more cheerful/whimsical stories. It helps that I love the illustration style too. 

The Great Fire by Shirley Hazzard 

I found a copy of this that doesn’t provide a plot description so I simply started reading it to get the gist, and immediately stopped caring about the plot. Hazzard’s writing is like candy to my brain. I’m not sure if it’s the way she writes imagery or if it’s just her sentence structures, I really enjoy her style. So, clearly, I’m looking forward to delving into this novel.
