For this week’s Top Ten Tuesday “Love Freebie” we’re diving into some of our favorite couples and/or duos in books. Thanks to That Artsy Reader Girl for another great topic!
Pete’s Five:
Siri and Susebron from Warbreaker by Brandon Sanderson
This relationship—between a princess and a literal god—is surprisingly touching, and watching their strange friendship develop was amazing.
Isaac Gallant and Amelie Lestroud from Exile by Glynn Stewart
These two commanding, confident leaders make for an unsurprisingly charming couple, and rooting for them is always easy.
Inda Algara-vayir and Tdor Marth-Davan from the Inda quartet by Sherwood Smith
Their names may be a mouthful, but this couple, betrothed from childhood, is strangely adorable in a world destroyed by war.
Dalinar and Navani Kholin from The Stormlight Archive by Brandon Sanderson
This pairing is so fun to read about, and their equally headstrong and stubborn personalities make for moments both entertaining and endearing.
Thomas and Marya Senlin from The Books of Babel by Josiah Bancroft
They are far from a perfect couple, and both of them can be aggravating, but Thomas and Marya are tenacious in the face of impossible odds. It’s hard not to admire that.
Indiana’s Five:
Jane Eyre and Edward Rochester:
Sure, their relationship is complicated in the beginning and the middle. . . and maybe at the end too, but it remains one of my favorites.
Lale Sokolov and Gita from The Tattooist of Auschwitz:
Especially considering the circumstances, this is one of the most devoted relationships I can think of. Even while they’re in a concentration camp, Lale finds a way to do sweet/romantic things for Gita.
Vasya and Morozko from The Winter of the Witch:
I liked how even though at the beginning of the series, Morokzo is the one teaching Vasya about the “magic” of the world, they seem to be on equal footing at the end.
Ophelia and Thorn from The Missing of Clairdelune:
This is probably a spoiler to anyone who hasn’t finished the second book in The Mirror Visitor series, but they turn out to be one of my favorite couples. That’s all I will say.
Oh I have had Warbreaker on my TBR for some time and this definitely makes me want to pick it up soon!
