Top Ten Tuesday: Top Books on our Fall TBRs

This week’s Top Ten Tuesday is an easy one: Top books on our fall TBRs. Thanks to That Artsy Reader Girl for another great topic!

Pete’s Five

The Lions of Al-Rassan by Guy Gavriel Kay
After reading my first Kay book, Tigana, I finally understand the love for this realistic fantasy writer — I can’t wait to read what many consider to be his best book.

Washington Black by Esi Edugyan
I’m a sucker for books with airships on the cover, and the unusual premise drew me in. This has been sitting on my TBR for far too long.

the accidental by Ali Smith
It’s by Ali Smith… need I say more?

Homegoing by Yaa Gyasi
I read a review of this book ages ago, and I was immediately intrigued by the historical setting. I love books that cover multiple generations of a family, and this sounds like it fits the bill.

The Poppy War by R. F. Kuang
This was the fantasy book everyone was talking about a year ago, and Indi and I are finally diving in!

Indiana’s Five

Middlemarch by George Eliot I’ve had this one on my list for a very long time but I’m finally going to read it before this year is over (I hope).

The Overstory by Richard Powers
This intriguing novel has been on my shelf for awhile and it’s one that I’m planning to half read half listen to.

I Capture the Castle by Dodie Smith
My grandmother gave me this as a birthday gift over a decade ago. I couldn’t get into it on my first attempt back then but I’m going to give it another go this season.

Red at the Bone by Jacquline Woodson
I’ve been listening to this one on audiobook and I’m just completely wrapped up in the story. Excellent writing and perfect voices that really make the narrative come alive.

Mark of the Plague by Kevin Sands
This is the second in The Blackthorn Key series and I’m really enjoying the puzzles and the humor in this middle grade series.
