June TBR

May was a very slow reading month for Pete and a packed one for Indiana. We’re moving this week, but hopefully we can find time to read while we rearrange our bookshelves!

Pete’s April Wrap Up

Needless to say, this was one of the worst reading months of all time for me. I just started a new job, and life has been a bit hectic—though that’s no excuse, because Indiana’s crushing me!

A Thread of Grace by Mary Doria Russell — Review to come

The Shame:

Story by Robert McKee — That’s right. I’m still working on this one.

The Arm of the Sphinx by Josiah Bancroft — I need a reading vacation.

Rocannon’s World by Ursula K. Le Guin — Ugh

Green Shadows Over White Whale by Ray Bradbury — Arg

This month, after we finish moving in, I’m going to crawl into a reading hole that I can’t escape from until I can build a sufficiently tall staircase from finished books. I’m only adding two more books to the current shame tower. The first is The Sympathizer by Viet Thanh Nguyen, which is the pick for one of our book clubs. The second is The Two Towers by J. R. R. Tolkien. I’m hoping to finish all of The Lord of the Rings by the end of the summer. That’s not unreasonable, right?

Indiana’s Wrap Up

May was a surprisingly good month of reading for me! I didn’t exactly end up reading what I planned to read, but I just kinda went with what I really wanted to read in the moment.

Slow Days, Fast Company by Eve Babitz – 4 out of 5 stars. Review to come

Giving Up the Ghost by Hilary Mantel – 3 out of 5 stars. Review to come

Gilead by Marilynne Robinson – 4.5 out of 5 stars. Review to come

The Chronicles of Narnia by C. S. Lewis – Review to come

June TBR:

Alright, June is usually a month where it feels perfect to read! The sun is out, the weather isn’t too hot yet and it just feels right. However, June is also usually a hectic month. So I’m going to try to be realistic. I plan to read Gift from the Sea by Anne Morrow Lindbergh, Colors Insulting to Nature by Cintra Wilson, Outlander by Diana Gabaldon, The Two Towers by J.R.R. Tolkien and Less by Andrew Sean Greer.
