Top Ten Tuesday: Cozy Reads
As it’s just getting to be winter here, this week’s Top Ten Tuesday couldn’t come at a more perfect time. Thanks to That Artsy Reader Girl for another great TTT!
Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling
Any book from this series is the cornerstone of cozy books for us. If we had to pick though, the Half-blood Prince and the Goblet of Fire may be the coziest in the series.
The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon
Part mystery, part love story, centered around a secret library, what more could one want?
Little Women by Louisa May Alcott
This one starts off around Christmas time and just gets more cozy as the story goes on.
Heroes of the Frontier by Dave Eggers
Even though this book is centered around a family that’s run away to Alaska (or is trying to any way), there’s something about the little homes they make along the way that feels cozy.
The Doldrums by Nicholas Gannon
Through charming illustrations and narratives, this books tells an adventurous yet cozy story.
The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet by Becky Chambers
Spaceships may not be the first thing that comes to mind when you think of “cozy,” but this book will change that. The Wayfarer is an otherwise utilitarian ship turned into a wonderful home by its diverse inhabitants. This book really makes you want to take a trip across the galaxy.
Howl’s Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones
Since this book is primarily set inside a cozy castle with a talking fire and a magic door that opens to a variety of places, I’d say it’s one of the coziest books out there.
The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss
The interludes at the Waystone Inn are so vivid and warm that it feels like I have a tankard of spiced cider in my hands as I read.
A Wizard of Earthsea by Ursula K. Le Guin
The whole world of Earthsea feels cozy, but this book in the series stands out with its small towns and ancient stone buildings. And sheep.
Theft of Swords by Michael J. Sullivan
No story has made me feel like I was joining a group of friends on an adventure quite like this one.
