We both have several favorite authors, and fortunately, we still have many of their books to read. This week’s list was a lot of fun to come up with. Thanks to That Artsy Reader Girl for another great Top Ten Tuesday!

The Emperor’s Soul by Brandon Sanderson
Of all of Sanderson’s books I still need to read, The Emperor’s Soul is at the top of my list. I loved the world of Elantris and can’t wait to revisit it in this novella.
There But For The by Ali Smith
I’d kind of say that all of Smith’s books are tied for me, but There But For The is one that I own and will probably read next. I know nothing about it except that it was written by Smith and is therefore probably inventive and unusual.
The Braindead Megaphone by George Saunders
The Braindead Megaphone is the only Saunders book I haven’t read. I think he’s a wonderful speaker, and his ideas tend to resonate with me, so I can’t wait to read some nonfiction from my favorite absurdist fiction author.
A Short History of Nearly Everything by Bill Bryson
I still haven’t read A Short History of Nearly Everything, though I’ve owned it for years. It’s a bit unusual for Bryson, but he is an incredible researcher, and I can’t wait to see how he handles a book on general science, a subject he knew little about prior to writing this.
The Dispossessed by Ursula K. Le Guin
The next Hainish Cycle book for me will be The Dispossessed—though I wasn’t blown away by The Left Hand of Darkness (which is apparently a crime in the sci-fi world), I’m looking forward to this classic.
Indiana’s Five
Shirley by Charlotte Bronte
I was beyond ecstatic to find this one in a bookstore out in Seattle last month.
The Labyrinth of the Spirits by Carlos Ruiz Zafon
I’m looking forward to reading this one now that the English translation is finally out!
There But For The by Ali Smith
I hope to read all of Smith’s works but this one happens to be next on my list.
Norse Mythology by Neil Gaiman
I’m currently loaning this one from my mom, so I’ll be reading the re-tellings of these classic tales soon.
The Last Thing He Wanted by Joan Didion
Although I’ve read just about every essay collection by Didion, but I haven’t delved into her fiction.

Gaiman is my favorite author, and Norse Mythology is still on my TBR as well. I think part of the reason I haven’t gotten to it is that I managed to get a signed copy so now I’m hesitant to touch it and mess it up. lol. Maybe it’s time to just get the audio book.
