Top Ten Tuesday: Favorite Couples in Books

This week, we’re talking about our favorite fictional couples. This one was trickier for us, but we think we came up with a good list. Thanks as always to That Artsy Reader Girl for another great Top Ten Tuesday!

There are spoilers abound in this post, so we put the title of each book/series first.

Indiana’s Five

The School for Good and Evil series – Agatha and Tedros
The nerd and the jock get together in this one. It’s cute.

The Edge of Everything – X and Zoe
Even though X is a character from another world (one that sounds a lot like Hell), their relationship felt genuine and I liked their banter.

Afterworlds – Darcy/Imogen and Lizzie/Yamaraj
That sounds like I’m cheating here, but Darcy is writing Lizzie and Yamaraj to life so I think it counts.

Fruits Basket series – Tohru Honda and Kyo Sohma
It took them long enough to get together, but I started rooting for them relatively early on.

The Shadow of the Wind – Daniel and Bea Even though I questioned Daniel’s faithfulness in the last book in the series, I still think they’re a perfect couple. Bea knows Daniel too well for anything to actually go amiss.

Pete’s Five

The Stormlight Archive by Brandon Sanderson—Dalinar and Navani
Navani is the perfect person to break the emotional shell Dalinar has built around himself, and I love their banter.

The Mortal Engines Quartet by Philip Reeve—Hester and Tom
I’ve never read about a relationship quite like this one—Hester and Tom go through some difficult times, and their relationship is really the centerpiece of this amazing series.

The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas—Maximilian and Valentine
Their dramatic love story was my favorite side-story in this massive epic.

Inda by Sherwood Smith—Inda and Tdor
Watching this couple transition from clumsy children to a political power couple was a lot of fun.

The Airborn Trilogy by Kenneth Oppel—Kate and Matt
Kate de Vries was my main literary crush when I was younger, and while Matt is a less interesting character, I loved reading about their adventures together.
